Virginia is an award-winning writer of articles, short stories, and children’s books. She is also a lecturer, artist, and photographer. Virginia is currently president of the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers (rmowp.org) and a long-time member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (scbwi.org).
Virginia earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Writing with a Creative Writing Emphasis from the University of Houston. She has created and teaches workshops focusing on the craft of writing. She also enjoys working with children and has written and taught several nature-oriented and Christian courses for young people.
She and husband David have twin grown sons and four grandchildren. Virginia is a sixth-generation Texan and lives with David and Golden Retriever Roxanne near Houston. They enjoy overlander camping. Together the three travel to remote areas, especially in Alaska and Canada. Virginia returns from their adventures to write about the wilder corners of Texas and beyond.
Virginia is a regular contributor to Rocky Mountain Outdoors (see Writer’s Corner) and hosts a popular overland travel blog at Ruffing It. She also has a photography website at Golden Studios.
