Virginia is an award-winning writer of articles, short stories, and children’s books. She is also a lecturer, artist, and photographer. Virginia is the immediate past president of the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers (rmowp.org).
Virginia earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Writing with a Creative Writing Emphasis from the University of Houston (they apologized because her diploma didn’t have room for all the wording!). She has created and taught many workshops focusing on the craft of writing. She also enjoys working with children and has written and taught several nature-oriented and Christian courses for young people.
She and husband David have twin grown sons and four grandchildren. Virginia is a fifth-generation Texan and lives with David and their new Golden Retriever pup near Houston. As overland campers, together the three travel to remote areas, especially in Alaska and Canada. Virginia returns from their adventures to write about the wilder corners of Texas and beyond.
Virginia is a regular contributor to Rocky Mountain Outdoors (see rmowp.org) and hosts a popular overland travel blog at Ruffing It.
